2018 a successful year for ecx.io

100% growth just under 3 years after acquisition by IBM

2018 was a particularly successful year for us as a digital agency. Just short of 3 years after being acquired by IBM, ecx.io is experiencing 100% growth. The success stories of the current year in particular have contributed to this. Sales growth of over 25%, and an increase in headcount of more than 100 new employees testify to the success of 2018. Numerous digital projects were implemented, including the new online presence of Raiffeisenbank Austria and a tool for managing digital assets for Henkel. New customers also came on board in 2018, with E.ON, Henkel and Stadtwerke Krefeld (Krefeld municipal utilities) expanding their customer bases. Business is booming: over 15 new customers have been won this year and more than 20 projects have been successfully implemented in the area of digital transformation for both new and existing customers.

Crowned with success

Aside from the numbers, we have received numerous awards for our project work. The platform for Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper, the leading manufacturer of office and professional printing papers, was awarded the coveted SAP Quality Award in Bronze in the Business Transformation category, which was presented at this year’s SAP Forum in May. We were also recognised as an outstanding Adobe Partner at the Adobe Summit EMEA 2018 in London, where we won the award for the ‘DACH Experience Cloud Partner of the Year 2018’. We also received the prestigious Experience Business Award in the ‘Excellence in the Omnichannel Experience Management’ category for the implementation of a consistent B2C user experience for their client Cyberport. And it’s not just business that is growing, the number of employees is also increasing steadily. More than 100 new professionals across the various areas and sites have strengthened the team this year. This includes a small team at the recently opened site in Graz, Austria. The employees are also developing qualitatively. Thanks to our own ecx.io Academy, more than 1,500 man-days of training and over 130 certifications have been completed in the specialist areas of Adobe, SAP CX and Sitecore amongst others, and also for Scrum Master and Product Owner.

At the forefront of innovation, we don’t stand still in the area of innovation either. The year started with a Digital Reinvention Day, during which the latest methods and innovations were presented jointly with sister agency Aperto. Joint participation at the leading trade fairs CEBIT and DMEXCO provided a platform for future-oriented customer workshops and the presentation of new developments, for example linking cognitive performance with Abode, Sitecore or SAP technologies. The collaboration between the two sister agencies also proved to be particularly successful this year. Not only was a joint customer project won with the AOK Bundesverband (the largest public health insurance provider in Germany), but a joint project was also implemented in the form of a new website for Allianz. The success curve should continue to rise this year and, in particular, collaboration with IBM iX and Aperto should be strengthened and synergies exploited. Using methods such as design thinking, agile working methods and innovative assets with cognitive abilities, we will continue to meet the needs of our customers in 2019 and to implement digital projects ever more rapidly.

This year’s success is a significant culmination of our integration into the IBM parent company.
